Gentrification

Gentrification has seen a massive influx in London in the past decade. From Liverpool St, Canary Wharf and Deptford, has the rapid change in the landscape of the city been for better or for worse for the communities in this ever growing city?

Simply put, gentrification is where an area rapidly changes in population growth caused by an influx of newer, bigger buildings, which can cause a displacement of the previous population due to increasing unaffordability of rent and local services provided.

This project shows both the aftermath and current state of South London after the affects of this grand change. How it can bring communities together or push them further apart.
